guerilla bakery packaging design
design by public voting
When we were putting together the packaging for Guerrilla Bakery's flour, we decided to try something different.
We picked four different designs and posted them on Facebook and in a small Viennese café to get people talking.
We wanted to stand out from the crowd and show that we could do something different. At the same time, we wanted to make sure that our design could be easily applied to any new products we might launch.

So, we came up with the idea of a prominent label, which we'd complement with a variable background pattern. It's a simple concept that can convey a lot of variety and a high brand recognition value through constantly changing patterns and colours.
The round label looks great on any shape and surface, whether it's a box, a bottle, a paper bag or a preserving jar.
Firstly, we looked at all the different ways we could label the brown paper bag.
We tried out different types of labels and closure mechanisms.
As the packaging was to be assembled by hand, we felt it was important to keep it simple, so the label had to fulfil three essential requirements:
sealing the packaging for sale, quick and uncomplicated customisation and distinguishing the flour from the bulk.
After trying out a few different ideas, we decided to let our customers vote on the labels.
We made samples of our four favourite labels and put them on display for a week in the sister/poc café.
Customers could vote for their favourite.
The last step of the project was to get the public's opinion.
We did this with a survey and the round, black and white label with the simple typography was the clear favourite.
The comments we collected gave us a good idea of the direction in which we needed to develop the design.
